from local and statewide businesses. There will be something
for everyone at this event, from little kids to big
kids [like your 90 year old grandfather]. This event
will have fundraisers for other clubs within the school
and will benefit the FFA in ways more than one. If you
would like to help out with this event please see Tyler
Massey, Amanda Hermance, or Mr. Plumb. We need help
in many areas and are encouraging ANY chapter members
to help out, there's something for EVERYONE!

2006
National Convention Review
From October
23-28th was the 2006 FFA National Convention. The Chino
Valley FFA Chapter sent 15 students to the convention. Jaime
Evans, Amanda Walker, and Scott Fitterer all received their
American FFA Degrees. Eddie Andert received a gold award
in the zoology division of the agriscience fair, and Caleigh
Hill received a silver award in the biotechnology division.
Kayla Peck received a silver award for Prepared Speaking.
Also, Tyler Massey and Caitlin Jenkins were in the National
Choir. Caleigh Hill had this to say about the Convention:
"National Convention was really motivating and fun. It was
a great opportunity to compete, learn, and meet a variety
of people. We got to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
and the Indianapolis Zoo. They both motivated a lot of students
to take part in writing about the zoo in

their
Ag classes. The motor speedway inspired several other students
to be included in the Agriculture Mechanics team as well as
the classes that CVHS offers. The Career Fair had thousands
of opportunities to pursue in things such as the Armed Forces
and future careers in agriculture as well. I would recommend
National convention to anyone!" Congrats to all! |

Fall
Banquet Review
The 2006 Fall
Banquet took place on September 28th in the cafeteria. The
banquet was a huge success as members and their parents
mingled and feasted on deserts. The creed and information
contests took place. April Gonzales and Chelsea Kelly were
the top two creed speakers and Daniel Aubel and Christian
Willison were the top two in information. Congrats to all
that competed and to those that received their discovery,
greenhand, and chapter degrees!

Ag-Angels
and Caroling Review
This year was
a great year for the Agriculture angels Bowl A-Thon and
some good old fashioned Christmas caroling. The Chino Valley
FFA officers were definitely in the spirit when a group
of ten students went to a care home in Prescott. The residents
were very glad we came this year. The Agriculture Angels
Bowl-A-Thon was held on December 9th of 2006 and we were
able to purchase gifts for sixteen people this year. Over
all the holiday season was magnificent! I look forward to
continuing the Bowl A-thon next year and having some good
times! Thanks for you're never ending support FFA members!

Peoria
Mini-Camp Review
On the weekend
of the 19th-20th a group of FFA members set out on a quest
for fun and leadership. We left the high school at noon
on Friday. When we arrived at Peoria High School we were
split up into our camp groups and then sat with them for
Opening Ceremonies. After the Peoria Officers said their
parts, we were presented with a very special speaker, number
46 of the Philadelphia Eagles, John Dorenbos, who was also
a magician. John gave us advice on how to become a better
leader and person and showed us some miraculous tricks.
After that, we went with our groups into separate classrooms
for activities. Finally we got to the most awaited part
of the night, the dance. We boogied around for two hours
to some great music. The day ended with most of us falling
asleep at about 3:00 A.M. Only three hours later we awoke
to start a new day. We separated into groups for three activities.
The first of these was another magic show-advice session
with John. The second activity was another speaker. During
this speech the listeners were forced to think deep down
to their own opinion. Finally the last activity was a good
game of dodge ball. After that, we gathered in our groups
one last time for another activity and then a field day.
After this were pictures and then finally closing ceremonies.
We got on the bus and endured a long ride home, we were
saddened that camp was over and it was back to regular life.
